Kids on the Prairie

We help local kids experience a unique pocket of nature in the midst of urban Fort Worth, Texas.

Kids on the Prairie is a an outreach program of Friends of Tandy Hills Natural Area (FOTHNA).

Public school budget cutbacks in Fort Worth have curtailed field trip learning opportunities. Beginning in 2011, FOTHNA, a private sector, non-profit organization, stepped up to help out with funds raised at Prairie Fest to help pay expenses. This will enable students to benefit from an outdoor learning experience at the 160-acre, Tandy Hills Natural Area, located in the heart of Fort Worth.

Our partners include:

Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD)
Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge
City of Fort Worth, Parks & Community Service (PACS)
Cross Timbers Master Naturalists

Special thanks to, the FASH Foundation, for their generous support.
